Bent Creek Experimental Forest

Bent Creek Experimental Forest was established in 1927 to study rehabilitation of cutover, degraded forests, Bent Creek is the oldest experimental forest in the East. While the primary purpose of the area is to research current issues that threaten or enhance the health and productivity of forests, it has become a haven for recreation and it’s close proximity to Asheville and providing a good diversity of trails from beginner to advanced making it a popular mountain biking destination.
