Announcing the Butter Gap Contractor and Field Inspector

Pisgah Area SORBA is thrilled to announce the Butter Gap Trail Project has been awarded to Rock Solid Trail Contracting. Rock Solid is based out of Copper Harbor, Michigan and Bentonville, Arkansas and, since 2014, has built hundreds of miles of trail in the United States. The selection criteria for choosing a Butter Gap contractor included analyzing each bid in regard to their work portfolios, organizational stability, communication style, and overall cost. Compared alongside impressive competition, Rock Solid proved to be an exceptional choice in all of the listed categories. Following the bid submission, our Selection Committee had a follow-up call with the organization, checked references, and analyzed their work during a field visit. References and in-person rides confirmed Rock Solid’s ability to deliver a variety of trail characters and their responsiveness when building to the needs of the area. After a detailed and extensive contractor selection process, Pisgah Area SORBA looks forward to working with Rock Solid to create a unique Pisgah experience on Butter Gap. In addition to finalizing our contractor, Pisgah Area SORBA is also excited to announce Jared Hartman has been hired as the Butter Gap Field Inspector. After reviewing multiple applicants and conducting interviews, Jared was confirmed as the most qualified, capable, and dedicated individual for the job. His presence will ensure quality construction, stewardship, and trail character are being fulfilled during the build. His name may sound familiar, as Jared has spent years dedicating his time to the Brevard area, serving as volunteer Trail Crew Coordinator for two years and serving as the current volunteer Area Trail Coordinator.Confirming a trail construction start date is contingent upon the arrival of the NEPA memo and we are currently awaiting the issuance of this decision. Upon receiving the decision memo, Rock Solid will be given 12 months to complete the build. Stay tuned for more updates and if you’d like to support the work of Pisgah Area SORBA consider giving a direct donation or joining as a member. Now get off your device and go ride some dirt!
