Butter Gap Maps

Have you heard that the Butter Gap Trail is gearing up to get some much needed love? Not only will the trail be re-established as environmentally sustainable, but we’ll be adding more mileage and year round riding options for a larger loop. While we tackle Butter, The Pisgah Conservancy is tackling the Searcy Creek Connector.. When all the work is completed, there will be a new 15 mile route option which gives you more time on singletrack! Check out this map which indicates the new loop route.

Rock Solid Trail Contracting will begin their work on Butter Gap in January of 2024 and we can’t wait! To the left is the proposed construction plan. Below is the outline of the phased construction approach, and we’ll continue to keep the community updated as progress continues!

Butter Gap Construction Phase I

● Cedar Rock Decommission

● Build Upper Butter; constructed counterclockwise (plan to open new trail prior to decommissioning of current trail)

Butter Gap Construction Phase II

● Middle Butter Heavy Maintenance

Butter Gap Construction Phase III

● Build Lower Butter Hike/Bike Trail (plan to open new trail prior to decommissioning of current trail)

● Build Lower Butter to Cat Gap Hike Only Connector
