Richmond Hill Bike Park

Pisgah Area SORBA is happy to announce the Bike Park at Richmond Hill is under construction. Despite record-setting rains for August, the crew at Nature Trails have been busy constructing the park.
The park will be totally free to the public and we are planning to have it open within the next 4-6 weeks. We'd like to thank our volunteers for all their work during this project, especially Bill Velthaus and Jonathan Landry. Bill, our Area Trail Coordinator in Asheville, has cooperated with City Staff to secure the design intent, project scoping and permitting. Jonathan has been instrumental as our project manager and has procured all the materials & delivery for the build while keeping a close eye on the budget. These two volunteers have spent countless hours making this project a reality!

Next, we'd like to give a big THANK YOU to the following community members for their large ($500-$2500)donations to the project.

Richmond Hill Bike Park Sponsors
If you see community supporters in town, please thank them for helping out! This project is a great example of cycling infrastructure created with a mix of private/public dollars; 1/3 of this project was funded by PAS, 1/3 of the funding is from the City of AVL and 1/3 was generated with private donations.

We used the following LOCAL businesses to supply building materials for the project:

-Newcomb Tree Service (Donated several HUGE locust/oak trees)
-Hedrick Quarry (Donated about 1/2 the large boulder for the project)
-Sunrise Sawmill (Rough-sawn oak lumber)
-Hipps Stone (flagstone armoring)
-T&K Utilities (culverts)
We are hoping to create future trail projects with a similar funding mix and look forward to working with all of our ridership to make this happen!
Stay tuned to our Social Media for future notification on the opening of the park and we hope to see you out there!
