President Report:

  • What’s 2021 look like?

    • Matt presented a PPT detailing the organization structure, meeting structure, goals and issues to work on moving forward

  • Next step on RTPs:  Avery closeout and Black Mountain Re-Route

    • All docs have been submitted to state

      • Matt did receive an email and he has some loose ends to take care of but should expect money in next 30-40 days

    • BM:

      • NEPA is just waiting on Natives to give their blessing to go ahead

        • Once this step is complete, contacting and choosing a builder will be next process

        • At this point, no details on the NEPA can change

      • Craig, Jack and Jared are having riding Butter and BM on Sept. 22 to discuss trail projects after BM

  • BOD Changes - Nominations received: Craig Ruhland for President, Abby Landry for VP Jared Hartman for Trail Crew Coordinator, Scott Grainger Membership Director.  We still need a Secretary and?

    • Social Media Engagement Position

    • Not BOD position, but will need an Area Trail Coordinator for Brevard

      • Must publish vacancies in October and be voted on during December meeting

      • Discussed posting openings on FB

 

Committee Reports:

  • Vice President-Craig

    • Status on Richmond Hill Project

      • Progress & Update

        • Review spreadsheet for materials, cost, etc.

          • Actual cost to date: 27,073

          • Still owe NT 12, 000 for work

        • Total Fundraising to Date

          • 35, 340

        • Work Completed (features) to date -Landry

          • Most features are completed

          • Crew has had to spend time tamping down spots where people have been riding unfortunately

        • Work remaining

          • Wrap up signage decisions and plans with city of Asheville

          • NICA team and French Broad River Academy riders plan to adopt and maintain trails at RH

        • Fencing & “DO NOT RIDE” signs -Landry

          • Signs and extra fencing was placed along trail and around certain features to discourage riders from ruining trail before it is completed

    • Apparel & Swag

      • Proposal request sent to both Cognitive MTB and Weevil

        • Summarize proposals

        • Would like to have proposals by October for a vote

  • How do we talk to larger donors? -Craig

    • Breweries, tourism boards, banks, Duke, etc.? (deeper pockets)

    • Build 2021 plan and create presentation w/ “elevator pitch”

  • Financials- Mike

    • City of Asheville owes us 10,000 for RH project

    • Jonathan Landry owed 3,300 for RH purchases

    • Nature Trails owed 12,000 for RH project

      • Mike needs all receipts for RH

  • Trail Crew Coordination- Allen

    • Work conducted last 30 days

      • Jared has been doing work in Pisgah

      • A lot of TCL’s have been working in various areas of BC clearing drains

      • Pilot ROck work was done

      • Spencer has been worked on

      • Sycamore had rock armoring done

      • Matt Holzencamp leading work on Ridgeline on 9/15 at 8:30am

    • Scheduled Trail Work next 120 days

      • Butter Gap

      • Thrift Cove

  • Social/comm engagement- Jared/Jack

    • Discuss quality growth and our messaging

      • Quality vs. quantity posts

    • Short videos regarding our scope of services to members

  • Web/email- Chad

  • Membership/newsletter- Sonya

    • 438 members total with 35 set to lapse

    • 9 new members since start of September

    • BOD discussed voting on the change to not have their memberships paid by the chapter and will vote in November

  • At Large Member comments- Rick, Jared

  • Events Committee

    • Take a Kid Mountain Biking Event is 1st Saturday in October

      • Could be virtual?

      • Events committee includes Craig, Abby, Scott Randall and Sonya

        • Meeting and planning to ride 9/17 at 4:30 at Bent Creek

          • Topics and events to discuss RH soft opening and grand opening, XMAS party, Fall virtual challenges

          • Will update the BOD after the meeting with ideas and plans
