Plan Your Visit

Pisgah Area SORBA wants you to enjoy the hard work we put into keeping up the trails of Western North Carolina.

Find your trails - whether you are a beginner or advanced - there are trails for you. From greenways to out-there, chucky old school single track to purpose built flow trails with massive berms, doubles and drops - we bring it all together. Click on the icon on the left, use the trail difficulty mapping to pick out some routes that align to your skill and fitness level and get excited!

Get a guide - if this is your thing… the area has many adventure guides that can show you the best places to ride, provide skilled instruction and even incorporate a way to give back through a partnership with PAS. A guide can also provide advice on places to stay, trails to target and the best rental options.

Find your ride - if you need a rental - score the right bike at one of our many local bike shops. They are all friendly and want to make your experience the best possible.

Get some lodging - whether looking for a central location or you want to hop around - the areas has tons of options from backcountry campsites, AirBnbs, hotels and spas and resorts.

Pick up a map - Pisgah is BIG! Don’t get lost. Grab a map of your trails at the local bike shop and don’t forget to download them into your favorite app or GPS device. It can be easy to get turned around in the backcountry.

Find your tribe - schedule an afternoon volunteering with Pisgah Area SORBA working on one of the many trails, feel good about yourself for lending a hand, meet local riders and pick their brains for the best trails.

Get some gear - Visiting local shops really gives you the vibe for the area, can get you some great insight on off the radar trails and let you carry away some mementos of your time here. (And it helps us help out those that contribute to the trails)

Grab a bite - All that riding is going to build up quite an appetite. Another great feature of our region is access to some amazing eateries. Plan accordingly and visit local establishments hand picked by the riders at Pisgah Area SORBA. Double check closure times and days…

Take a tour - I know you’re brewery tours and we don’t have a shortage of those… but why not check out some of the top industry boutique manufacturers while your in town. I-9, one of the premier bike wheel manufacturers in the world, offers a factory tour and you can see how technology, experience and attention to detail has resulted in a premier product. Cane creek is another premier, local part manufacturer that can take you behind the scenes. Schedule something as part of your visit and you’ll come away with a much better appreciation into what goes into your ride.

Grab a beer - Nothing completes a day in the back country like a local, craft beer from an establishment that supports mountain bikers and the trails. Look for a spot close to trail head or plan your visit to stop at all of them - you won’t be disappointed. The areas selection of beers and craft breweries rivals the diversity and wonder of the trail network.

Be Responsible - Safe riding and responsible use of the trails and forest are core tenants of Pisgah Area SORBA. Pisgah brings a true back country experience and we want to keep it that way. Often there is no cell service. Especially in the off season, you can go for hours without seeing someone. Be responsible - wear a helmet, ride within your skills, stay hydrated and bring a repair kit.

Now - Go Ride!
