Pisgah Ranger District Volunteer Group Meeting

Throughout the year, the concentrated groups of volunteers that help the US Forest Service (USFS) maintain trails in the Pisgah National Forest/Pisgah Ranger District get together to discuss past work, future initiatives, and ways to further collaborate.

The group recently met to reconnect and discuss needs for 2023 and the future. Centering around Pisgah Project Day (April 22, 2023), these organizations come together with the shared vision to positively maintain the trails for public recreation. The user groups based on Mountain Biking, Hiking, Horse Riding, Fishing, and Trail Running represent the broad user base within the Pisgah National Forest and beyond. Among the attendees of the meeting were representatives of the Carolina Mountain Club, Backcountry Horsemen of Pisgah, Carolina Climbing Coalition, Pisgah Cowboys, Pisgah Area SORBA, The Pisgah Conservancy, and of course, the US Forest Service. The goal of bringing everyone together is to have a shared vision of how to serve the diverse user base of the forest and to plan how to maintain and build sustainable trails for future generations.

We are proud to have been invited to the table and to be part of such a fantastic group of trail crew workers.
